Amarillo Venom is the city's Indoor Football League team and has garnered a significant following since its debut in 2004. The indoor gridiron action coupled with the alluring cheerleaders and electrifying multimedia presentation takes place in the Amarillo Civic Center. Typically, the season time frame is designed for fans of NFL football, as the IFL season spans from spring until mid-summer.

Amarillo Bulls Hockey Club have bragging rights! They have proudly achieved a milestone for the team. They are the 2011 NAHL South Division Champions. That hard work and drive to succeed can be seen when this team hits the ice and every player works hard to cover his position and get the puck in the other team's goal net. There are also lots of great promotions that go along with the experience of the big game, like the Ultimate Sports Intern contest, as well as great game-only promotions and ticket specials for members of the fan zone. Palo Duro Canyon is the most obvious place to find trails near Amarillo. The canyon is considered the "Grand Canyon of Texas" as it stretches out for 120 miles and is an awe-inspiring 800 feet deep. This expansive slice of nature offers a variety of recreation activities that include camping, mountain biking, and an abundance of scenic views. There are several trails in and around the canyon that offers various levels of challenges but all are complete with picturesque, scenic views from every vantage point.

The
Givins, Spicer and Lowry Trail in Palo Duro Canyon is one of the most popular treks in this chasm of rock. It retains its popularity with trail enthusiasts not only because of its winding path, but also because it's laid out among some of the oldest sedimentary rock in the entire canyon. Geologists have traced this slab of rock back to the Permian Period which makes the backdrop of this amazing trail about 230 million years old.

The "GSL" and Capitol Peak Trails are some well-traveled bike trails located at Lighthouse Peak in the Palo Duro Canyon. Many riders have all agreed that this particular bike trail makes for some glorious riding in the canyon. Even though
Lighthouse Trail has much tourist activity and additional traffic from horses that provide carriage rides, cyclists can opt to either share the trail or use some of the less busy side trails that will add a few miles to your ride-but with this much great scenery, that extra time in the outdoors is worth the effort.
